What are filters?
Filters separate substances like gasses, liquids and solids from each other mechanically or by specific gravity of the substances. A wire mess filter blocks solid particles in a flow of gas or liquid. A bypass filter has self cleaning capabilities when it is a three port filter. Coalescers can separate moisture from gasses by gravity, membrane filters block moisture droplets in a gas stream.
Types of Filters
Filtering in process and instrumentation systems is done with inline or by pass filters. They can be found in the following flow applications: Pneumatics, liquid flow installation, metering systems, mechanical seal support systems, Sample systems, analytical systems, slurry applications, natural gas, hydrogen, cryogenic applications, combustion fuel filtering, water treatment, food processing, hydraulic systems and many more.
